Released into the Kurrad Savannah at the start of the year, a tower of eighteen adult giraffes has had a rough time. With battles between the five bull giraffes resulting in the death of one, and the inexperience of one young male to think he could only ever have one female, not to mention the death of four calves, the giraffe are in a state of worry.
With the breeding still going on but the giraffe mothers trying to avoid the males, they are seperating off and putting their young at risk. But some mothers have to seperate with to try and get away from a stalking male. If they don't band back together soon or hook onto another mob of grazing animals, there might be chaos for the Northern Kurrad Tower.
Of them all is the big bull giraffe Mekuria, who thinks he's much better then any of the other giraffes and holds onto three of the elder and more experienced giraffe females, Aisha, Fayola, Lemna and her male calf Kosey. But there might be trouble in store for him though he moves his band along, if only because Fayola's old zoo companion, Ammon is stalking them all, and he's much more dangerous then Mekuria might think.
On the other side of the tracks Hagos, a inexperienced young male that was released away from his mother Aisha, has been wandering along on his own and is not excepted by most other towers. He's in desperate need of a companion as he is not used to being looked after by no one. Will anyone stick by this nervey giraffe?
Then there are a trio of cows and their two young calves, one recently born called Halla. Halla is a weak little female and she's become the target of pestering ox-pecker birds and some nasty lions. Though her mother Rashida is trying to keep her from harm, she is a first-time mother and her two females companions, Jordana and Leena are too nervous to help out for fear of putting Jordana's own daughter, Isabeau, to danger. Rashida needs to listen to the more dominant Jordana, and leave Halla to fate, but then she is always confident that the calf will make it, if only because Leena is such and excellent look out.
Then there is one female completely on her own with her one yearling calf, and they're in trouble. Though Blondelle wants to keep her son from the hassle of the bigger bulls of the tower, she can't escape the devoted Pharaol. But though the male's intentions are not menacing, Blondelle has knowledge of bulls getting too close to yearling calves, and her son Primo is at a great risk. Will they ever find any females to protect them? Or could they even find a new tower that are more then willing to chase off the terrifying stalker.
