Name: Mr Burns
Meaning of Name: He was named after the Simpsons character because of the way he walks with his arms folded
Age: 9 Years
Gender: Male
Species: Pangolin
Sub-species: Ground/ Common
Colour: He has a dark brown colouring to both his scales and his body in general. His mouth is black and his eyes are a deep brown that is also almost black. But around the rim of each of his plates or scales, is a golden lining that makes him stick out more.
Description: Like all pangolins he’s just a scaly version of an anteater, he has the same basic long nose, small ears, big eyes, keen nostrils, long thick tail, and short legs of all ant-eating varieties. However, the pangolin is unique among the anteaters of Africa in having the fur on his back modified into the shape of almost pentagonal scales that are hard, brittle, and yet amazingly resistant to all manners of attack. His species of Ground pangolin also is much bigger then most and much more covered, he walks around on the ground and has strong claws, though they can also be a little fragile. This accounts for his namesake, as he will waddle around on his hind legs with a hunched back and his forearms lifted and bent flat, a bit like Mr Burns.
Come From: He is in fact from an American Zoo somewhere near Michigan, but he doesn’t know exactly himself
Breeding History: As much as his species is known as the common one, Mr Burns has never encountered female pangolins outside of his first two years in the company of his mother, father, and a younger sister.
Health Problems: It was thought at first that the gold rim to his scales were being caused by some deficiency, but Mr Burns is in fact quite healthy.
History: Born in an American zoo amongst his father and mother, Burns was quite happy until he was repelled by his mother when she became pregnant again, but when his little sister was born he was not so bothered. That was until he grew old enough to mate and his father started at slash at him with his big claws. The keepers feared both in breeding and a death, so they moved him into his own enclosure. For a long time, Burns was happy to be alone, until a very unsure keeper was forced to isolate a young, nameless, female aardvark to a safer place whilst she was nursing terrible wounds from being attacked and rejected by her group, and she was placed in with him. Of course, they ate the same food, and Burns was a little territorial, so he approached the aardvark with unfriendly gestures, only to be quite surprised that she did not even know what she was doing there. But Burns eventually spent the evening with her, helping her eat and inspecting her wounds when the keepers had all wandered off on their home business. Then when they returned in the morning, they were all surprised to see the little aardvark “piglet” lying fast asleep against a curled ball of scales. They had no room to separate them off, and Burns was not bothered by sharing food, the company was quite welcoming, and eventually he was plod around talking to himself with the little aardvark baby bounding at his side, honking at him with questions, hence she was named Smithers. They’ve been companions ever since and now that they’ve been given to a new world; they still like to keep with each other.
Mate: N/A
Offspring: N/A
Companions: Only young Smithers
Personality: Like most pangolins he tends to be a little on the “easily-ticked-off” side, and he’s not afraid to hit out with his sharp claws. But he has a gentler side, he likes to make sure his friends are safe and he likes his own time though any company is more then welcomed. He may seem a little coarse and harsh from time to time, but that’s just his general mannerism.
Interesting/ Extra Details: He really likes having Smithers around
ID Number: GRMR0476
Theme Music/ Song: His is probably something Classical like maybe Holst’s Saturn the bringer of Old age
